Ali Karmin is serving her first year on the YLD board. She grew up in downtown Chicago, attending Bernard Zell for 12 years. Her involvement within the Jewish community started at a young age, volunteering with her family at the Uptown Café, delivering Passover packages to those in need and taking family trips to Israel. In high school, she began to develop a personal interest in JUF, participating in the Lewis Summer Internship and working with Chicago Jewish Child and Family Services. During her college career at University of Michigan, she volunteered at Hillel, participating in phonathons and delivering matzoh ball soup as part of the "Penicillin Hotline". After graduation and throughout graduate school, she re-established her involvement in Chicago and the JUF, participating in LEADS, Gesher and co-chairing the JUF Marathon team. Ali currently works at Evanston Hospital as a Physician Assistant in orthopedic surgery and enjoys meeting other Jewish medical professionals at the TIP dinners. She looks forward to furthering her involvement with JUF and joining a group of ambitious and dedicated Jewish professionals.
