Graduate Programming

GAP

GAP serves Graduate and Professional Students at campuses all over Chicago, as well as young adults who have recently graduated and moved to Chicago. GAP offers everything from social events, holiday celebrations, networking opportunities, cultural events, volleyball and softball leagues and is a great way to meet new people, have some fun and take part in a vibrant Jewish community in Chicago.

Annual Events for Graduate Students and Young Adults include:

  • Lawyer/Law Student Reception: Don't miss this opportunity to network with practicing attorneys from various law firms and corperations throughout the city and suburbs. (co-sponsored by GAP, The Lawyers Division/Young Lawyers Division of JUF and The Decalogue Society of Lawyers).
  • "Back to Graduate School" Happy Hour: Put the books and laptops away and meet and mingle with other graduate and professional students from Chicago area schools.
  • Young Adult Community Wide Seder: Whether you live away from home or would just like to make some new friends on Passover, this wonderful seder in the city is not to be missed. (co-sponsored by GAP, The Sidney N. Shure Kehilla program and The Young Leadership Division of JUF)
  • Yom HaShoah (Holocaust Rememberance): Hear the inspiring story of a Holocaust Survivor.

Some past events have included:

  • Cross-campus events: From bowling to bar nights around the city, come and compare notes with other graduate and professional students.
  • Monday Monthy Meals: Cook and serve a warm meal to those less fortunate in Lakeview.
  • "Lunch and Learn": Stop by for bagels and lox on your campus and learn a little something not covered in your classes.
  • Wine Tasting:  Toast to friends old and new.
  • Graduate Student Shabbat: Come to services, dinner or both.
  • Open Mic Night:  Calling all rockstars, show us what you've got.
  • And many more events and programs that take place on your campus and around Chicago!!

Yad b' Yad

Yad B’ Yad is a once a month volunteer opportunity that brings together young Jewish adult volunteers with young adults with developmental disabilities. As a volunteer you can build relationships with young adults with developmental disabilities and come together for social, cultural and recreational opportunities and as always, free dinner. A two-hour commitment goes along way!  To volunteer please call 312-673-2384 and make a difference in someone's life.
