The JUF Hunger Awareness Project is a year-long initiative to raise awareness and mobilize volunteers in the area of hunger and food insecurity. The JUF Hunger Awareness Project includes volunteer opportunities at various agencies throughout Chicago, the SNAP Challenge, a Passover Seder focused on Hunger, educational programs and other activities highlighting hunger and food insecurity in Chicago and nationwide.

Hillels of Illinois Challah for Hunger

Challah for Hunger is a student-initiated group that brings together student volunteers to bake and sell challah bread, raising hundreds of dollars per campus and awareness for social justice causes, with an emphasis on combatting hunger programs. Most of the groups operate weekly during the school year, baking and selling 30 to 300 loaves of challah, helping to grow community awareness while providing a wonderful Shabbat experience.
