Rachel Zimmerman, Samuel A. Goldsmith Award recipient
Rachel Zimmerman is the coordinator of Project Shield, a program committed to building awareness, education and support for the recognition, prevention and treatment of child sexual abuse in the Jewish community. Project Shield’s efforts are primarily focused on the unique and often complex needs of the Chicagoland Orthodox community.
Rachel is a member of the clinical staff of the JCFS Near North Suburban Counseling Center and serves as the Mental Health consultant for the Jewish Day School Wellness Initiative. In her role as a clinician, Rachel counsels individual clients, couples and families, but her area of specialty is her work with struggling adolescents. Rachel is often consulted by a wide range of individuals in the Jewish community, from young mothers to synagogue rabbis. Her long standing relationships with her teenage clients speak to her skills, passion and the strength of her connection with this population.
