Mayor Rahm Emanuel speaks at 2011 Jewish Federation Annual Meeting

At  the largest ever Jewish Federation Annual Meeting, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel said “nothing made him prouder” than the work JUF does in the Jewish community, the city of Chicago and beyond. “I as Mayor cannot achieve what I want to do for the city if the JUF is not standing shoulder to shoulder with me,” he said. The mayor also got choked up when speaking about his grandfather Herman. “When my grandfather and Steve’s [Nasatir] grandfather came to this city, they never dreamt that these two people or anybody would be on this podium…And I know my grandfather Herman, is kvelling.”
