Soul Children of Chicago choir traveling to Israeli music festivals

Jewish United Fund/Jewish Federation is supporting a trip to Israel for the Soul Children of Chicago, a world-class performance group that has been invited to sing at the Zimriya World Assembly of Choirs in Jerusalem and at the Red Sea Jazz Festival. The group will travel to Israel Aug. 15-Aug. 27. JUF worked with the choir and the Petakh Tikva Sister Cities Committee to arrange the visit, which also will include a meeting with youth from Petakh Tikva. At a press conference to announce the trip, Mayor Richard Daley told 13 members of the choir that their commitment to learning and music is inspiring.
