Jewish community leader Sidney Hess

Longtime, esteemed Jewish community leader Sidney Hess, Jr. (z''l) died Sept. 1 at the extraordinary age of 100. We were fortunate to interview Sid earlier this year as he prepared to mark his landmark birthday. Here are some of his reflections on living through the Great Depression, the evolution of Jewish communal life, and Federation's merger with the Jewish Welfare Fund, over which he presided as Federation's Chairman and President.
