On this episode of the public-affairs program “Sanctuary,” Lt. Gov. Patrick Quinn discusses his just-completed first trip to Israel, which was organized and supported by JUF, and describes the strong impact the visit had on him. The Lieutenant Governor also describes how the environmental, educational and other initiatives he visited, many of them supported by JUF, could offer valuable benefits to the people of Illinois. Then the show takes a look at how the themes and relevance of the upcoming High Holidays are being communicated to young Jews in high school and college. Guests for that discussion are Rabbi Josh Feigelson, the campus rabbi at Northwestern University’s Fiedler Hillel, and Rabbi Elliot Goldberg, director of religious life at Chicagoland Jewish High School in Deerfield. The program is hosted by Deborah Palmer Herst.
