Sanctuary: Teaching About Israel on Campus
Faculty members from three of the four universities where the Jewish Federation’s innovative Israel Studies Project helps support teaching positions will discuss what they bring to their campuses and academic disciplines, and what they, in turn, are learning from the experience.  Sergio DellaPergola of Hebrew University, a visiting professor at the University of Illinois-Chicago, is teaching a course on the Jewish people in Israel and the Diaspora.  Guy Laron, also from Israel, is a postdoctoral fellow in History at Northwestern University, where he focuses on Israel and the Middle East.   Rachel Harris is an assistant professor of Comparative and World Literature at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and teaches Israeli literature and culture. Hosted by Aaron Cohen.
