Oy!Chicago, the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago's blog for 20- and 30-somethings, won a first-place prize for outstanding website at the 2011 Simon Rockower Awards for Excellence in Jewish Journalism.
The awards were presented Wednesday at the American Jewish Press Association's annual meeting. The gathering, in Philadelphia, brought together leading editors and publishers of Jewish news media throughout North America.
"We are so honored and excited to have won a Rockower," said Cheryl Jacobs, Managing Blogger for Oy!Chicago. "It's a real credit to the work of Blogger-in-Chief Stefanie Bregman and our 30+ volunteer bloggers. Over the years, they've helped build the Oy! community into what it is today- a home for the socially conscious, intellectually curious and community-minded in Chicago."
Oy!Chicago (www.oychicago.com) was created in 2007 as a way to reach out to Chicago's unaffiliated 20- and 30-something Jews. Oy! is home to articles, blog posts, event listings and ongoing discussions about Jewish life.
Oy!Chicago draws more than 6,000 visits each month, and has had more than 150,000 unique visitors since its launch.
