The Jewish Women’s
Foundation of Metropolitan Chicago is proud to announce that Ellen H. Block,
one of its founding Trustees and now its first “Women Moving Millions” member,
has established the Ellie Fund at the Jewish Women’s Foundation.
The Ellie Fund
will support causes, initiatives, programs and organizations that educate and
enable girls and women to realize their full potential.
Millions is a diverse community of trailblazing philanthropists committed to
mobilizing unprecedented resources to support the advancement of women and
girls around the globe. Women Moving Millions members, who number more than
180, have pledged donations of $1 million or more to increase opportunities for
half the world’s citizens to learn, achieve and succeed.
Mrs. Block awarded the first $100,000 of her multi-year Women Moving Million’s
pledge to the Jewish Women’s Foundation of Metropolitan Chicago to establish
the Ellie Fund.
Women’s Foundation of Metropolitan Chicago, the largest Jewish Women’s
Foundation in the U.S., was established in 1997 to expand and improve
opportunities and choices in all aspects of Jewish women’s and girls’ lives and
their communities, through strategic and effective grantmaking. With more than
280 trustees today, the Foundation has a pledged endowment of more than $8.6
million and has awarded more than $2.2 million to 113 projects.
