North/Northwest Community Connections: Secrets of Remarkable Jewish Women

Join the Women's Board of the Women's Division of the Jewish United Fund as they learn about issues impacting the Jewish community, build stronger connections between Jewish women and hear about the important role JUF plays.

The Northwest Suburban Interfaith Council will hold the Annual Thanksgiving Interfaith Community Service on Sunday, November 20 at 7 pm at St. Mary Parish in Buffalo Grove. Canned food donations are collected at the door to benefit the northwest food pantries. More information on the Council can be found online.

JUF Book Buddies

Join JUF Book Buddies and other young families for creative holiday-themed art-projects, sing-a-longs and story readings at three locations in Naperville, Vernon Hills and Oak Park. Preschool On My Mind

This is the time of year when many families who enrolled their first child in a Jewish preschool for the 2011-2012 school year are receiving $500, $750 or $1,000 to offset tuition cost because they applied and received a JUF Right Start Gift Voucher. This program is no based on need. Do your homework now. Visit a Jewish preschool in your neighborhood, meet with a director and see if it is a good fit for you and your child. 2nd Fridays at the JCC

YLD North Suburban Shabbat Dinner

YLD Board members would like to invite you for a Shabbat Dinner on Friday, November 11. Dinner will start at 7:30 pm at a private residence in Deerfield. The cost of dinner is $36, which includes a Kosher meal and wine. Limited spots are available. Upon registration you will receive a confirmation email with location and details.

YLD's Big Event Featuring an Evening of Stand-Up with Jimmy Fallon

Education and Screening Program for Young Jewish Adults

Registration will open next month for the Chicago Center for Jewish Genetic Disorders screening programs for young Jewish adults. Join the Center in March or May for a subsidized screening program, $180 per person,which includes an expanded nineteen panel test, educational program and dinner. These tests usually cost $3,000! The JUF TOV Volunteer Network presents Fall Mitzvah Mania, a calendar of one-time volunteer projects running through Thanksgiving. There are projects for volunteers of all ages, so be sure to sign up today!

TOV MTV - Monthly Teen Volunteering

Teens spend a couple hours a month making a difference in the lives of others in the Chicago community. They can participate once, twice or every month; there's an opportunity waiting!

Young Judaea Alternative Winter Break

Young Judaea is celebrating its 5th year of Alternative Winter Break (AWB) this December and would like to invite any 9th-12th grader to join the program. AWB offers Jewish teens a unique opportunity for travel and experience while performing highly needed community service based on the Jewish values of tzedek and tikun olam. Alternative Winter Break will conduct programs in New Orleans and with the Navajo Nation in Arizona. Learn more about the program and register here.
