The Northwest suburbs is the fastest growing Jewish community in metropolitan Chicago including Lake, McHenry and Kane Counties. To build community resiliency at the individual, family and communal levels at times of crisis, the Jewish Community Emergency Resiliency Team (J-CERT) coordinates the JUF/Federation’s efforts to prepare for, respond to, and recover from critical incidents that affect the Chicago-area Jewish community. The program provides crisis intervention, trauma assistance and training to JUF/Federation personnel and to its many partner agencies. J-CERT also works to enhance coordination and collaboration among organizations and communities and with local, state and federal health, safety and emergency personnel. The program’s primary goal is to enable an orderly, systematic response in order to mitigate the impact of critical incidents such as fires, storms, client accidents and terrorism,

We provide referrals to existing services in the Chicago area and create new services where needed. JHNC is administered by Jewish Child & Family Services in collaboration with CJE SeniorLife, the Chicago Board of Rabbis and Jewish United Fund/Jewish Federation. Ensures quality of life for patients and families facing advanced illness in a Jewish context. JHNC has preferred provider relationships with Seasons Hospice & Palliative Care, Midwest Palliative and Hospice CareCenter, and VITAS. All three provide medical hospice services that focus on comfort and symptom relief; JHNC ensures that the spiritual and emotional needs of patients are met by a Jewish chaplain, staff training, educational and spiritual materials, and resources for Jewish religious observance.
