Volunteering Opportunities

The following are some of the volunteering opportunities available in Kiryat Gat, Lachish and Shafir.  Sign up online or contact Partnership 2000 for more information.

Limited interaction with Israelis
Volunteers must be physically fit
PLEASE NOTE: hot during summer months
Commitment: Minimum 2 weeks, 8 hour workday
Angliyada Adult Chicagoans teach English to Israeli adults. Minimum 2 weeks
6-8 hours per day (Sunday – Thursday)
Needed: Patience, and flexibility
Knowledge of Hebrew and teaching experience advisable but not essential
Computer assistance (ADVANCED) Helping set up computer programs or teaching more advanced skills.
Assisting children or adults become computer friendly
Advanced computer skills
Knowledge of Hebrew essential
Minimum 1 week
Elderly Serve light refreshments
Chat
Help with handicraft workshops (pottery, embroidery, etc.)
Volunteers need patience, flexibility
Knowledge of at least one of the following languages essential: Hebrew, Yiddish, or Russian
Experience with handicrafts an advantage
Minimum 1 week
6 hours per day
Enrichment in English Assist children with English, especially Ethiopians, and other weaker segments of the population Knowledge of Hebrew an advantage but not essential

Kefiada Summer day-camp in English by American counselors, housed with Israeli families
Israeli Junior camp counselors assigned to assist Chicago volunteers
* Age 19-25
* At least 1 year of college
* Prior experience in camp counseling NO HEBREW NECESSARY
Minimum 5 weeks, including 1 or 2 meetings in Chicago and workshops in Israel prior to camp
Kindergarten Extra pair of hands and eyes to assist with pre-schoolers Minimum 1 week
6 hours per day

Physically challenged children Work with young children who have
mild physical disabilities

Sports Teaching or improving skills in sports such as baseball, football, basketball, etc. Basic sports ability

Workshops Conduct workshops in your field or profession, e.g. drama, handicrafts, art, music, business skills, interpersonal skills Hebrew essential
Youth Workshops Conduct workshops in your field or profession (drama, handicrafts, business skills, interpersonal skills Knowledge of Hebrew may be necessary in some cases
