BreakAway: Master Chef

Cooking and Baking for Passionate Foodies

Learn to make delicious dishes like homemade matzo ball soup and hummus from scratch during this tasty Master Chef. Led by four different professional chefs who will all teach their specialties, teens will learn the basics of knife skills, prep work, cooking and baking techniques, and will put their new skills to the test through fun competitions similar to your favorite TV shows such as Chopped, Cupcake Wars, and Top Chef. Participants will get a chance to showcase their talents for all Spring Break Experience participants by cooking a meal for everyone to enjoy.

  • Hang out in the evenings with all BreakAway participants at special events, campfires and more

FAQ

Q: My friend is participating in a different BreakAway project. Will I get to see him/her?
A: Yes. The great part about BreakAway is you can spend the day immersed in what interests you, and still get to hang out with your friends and all the teens from the other projects during meals, night activities, trips and down time.

Q: I don't have any cooking experience. Is this program for me?
A: Yes, whether you are the next Bobby Flay or Rachael Ray, or have never cooked a meal in your life, everyone has something to learn and will have fun doing it. You will definitely return home with new cooking skills to show off to your friends and family.

Q: Can you accommodate my dietary restrictions?
A: We will not be cooking with products that contain nuts.  Special diets and food allergies can be accommodated. All food and preparation follows Kosher guidelines and is cooked in a CRC certified Kosher kitchen.
