A program for 10th-12th grade teens

• Discover new worlds.
• Be home in time for dinner.
• Just outside your daily routine, a short bus ride away, there are worlds unlike any you’ve ever known.
• Where families from lands far away feel lost in the big city.
• Where homeless puppies and kittens await rescue.
• Where the poor and elderly hunger for food … and someone to talk to.

But YOU can change that. YOU can experience those worlds first-hand … and make them better. And YOU can do it while making new friends, boosting your leadership skills, and having a total blast. All as part of A.C.T. Now.

A.C.T. Now ∙ Lead by Example

What is A.C.T. Now?

It’s a series of hands-on volunteer opportunities picked especially for older high school students and sponsored by the Jewish United Fund/Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago.  Whether you want to combat hunger and homelessness, learn about animal overpopulation, brighten a senior’s day, or lend a welcoming hand to new immigrants, there’s an opportunity waiting for you.  

Who can attend?

A.C.T. Now is for Jewish teens entering Grades 10-12 in the Chicago area. While A.C.T. Now is an extension of JUF’s popular Camp TOV program, you do not need to be a former Camp TOV camper to participate.

What do they do?

Spend a few hours making a difference in the lives of others while connecting with new friends and having loads of fun. Join one volunteer opportunity, or as many as you like.

How much is it?

There is a $25 charge for each event. That covers transportation to and from the agency sites, a kosher (CRC certified) meal/snack, and all program supplies.

A.C.T. Now is supported by a generous gift from a local family foundation.

Where is it?

Transportation to and from the volunteer sites will be provided from the JUF building, 30 S. Wells St. (at Monroe). Teens may choose to: drive to JUF (parking information will be provided), take the Metra or L (JUF staff will pick up teens at station), or be dropped off. All participants must leave from the JUF offices.

How to Register

• Pick a project or projects that work for you. Current choices can be found by clicking here.
• Turn in the permission slips and photo release forms that will be sent to you.
• Show up.
• HAVE FUN!

There is a charge for each A.C.T. Now opportunity. Space is limited and pre-registration is required.
