Love of Israel Meets Tikkun Olam

"Before KOLOT I really didn’t know much about philanthropy at all. The whole aspect of grant-making and allocating money was new to me. On the trip to Israel I learned more about Israel’s needs and Israeli’s opinions more so than my other Israel trips. Philanthropy is not just tzedakah; it’s more than that. We personalized our passion into helping Israel".
Deerfield High School Senior

If you want to make change and visit Israel, read more and download an application for KOLOT: The Israel Centered Giving Circle.

TOV MTV Monthly Teen Volunteer Opportunity

Join teens from around Chicago for an October hands-on volunteer group project.
Save the date for JCFS’s Target Coat Shopping! We will be shopping for winter coats, boots, gloves, hats and scarves for clients of Jewish Child and Family Services. No need to bring your own money, as each 'shopper' will be allotted a certain amount of money to spend. All coats will be purchased by JCFS using funding from grants, individuals and community groups; we simply need shoppers to pick out the right color, size and matching accessories.

  • When: Sunday, October 25th
  • Where: Target at 2241 Willow Rd., Glenview
*We will be meeting in the Food Court area
  • Time: 1:00-3:00 pm

Space is limited! To register for a project, receive the monthly teen volunteer opportunity brochure, or if you have any questions, please contact Sophie Aronowitz, Program Coordinator, Teen Volunteer Initiatives at (312) 444-2867 or TOVteen@juf.org. If you are active in a youth group or work as a youth group advisor, special TOV MTV programs can be coordinated for your group.

Camp TOV

Over 90 Camp TOV campers volunteered their time this summer to make a difference. Check out the article that appeared in JUF News and also read what campers had to say about their experiences.

HaZamir: The International Jewish High School Choir

HaZamir: The International Jewish High School Choir is a project of the Zamir Choral Foundation that was created by Matthew Lazar to provide Jewish teens with a high level choral experience in a Jewish environment. HaZamir provides Jewish high school-age teens the unique opportunity to gather together, sing Jewish choral music, build community and connect culturally. By providing a high-quality, structured program, HaZamir’s unique experience helps foster a lifelong commitment to Jewish culture and music in young people, and builds a strong foundation for future Jewish involvement among its participants.

HaZamir spans the denominations, giving young people an all-too rare trans-denominational experience, forging close bonds and transcending the boundaries that so often separate. All interested singers please contact Shalisha Erenberg at (773) 348-0213 or shalishaerenberg@hotmail.com for more information.
