Meet the Teen Leaders
![]() | Cari CohenCari Cohen has taken advantage of many different opportunities in the last four years. She is constantly singing whether it's with her voice teacher at Deerfield High School, the school Musical Theatre Troop, the Choraliers, and even leading services at her synagogue, North Shore Congregation Israel. She has also been very active in her Temple Youth Group, serving her peers as the 10th grade representative and worship chair. Cari's spiritual and intellectual nature combined with her beautiful voice have inspired people all around her. |
![]() | Danny DubinDaniel Dubin brings many talents wherever he goes. He has been a host, singer, dancer, saxophonist, and magician in many talent shows and performances over the last four years. His greatest passion is magic, which he has been developing since he was only eight years old. He has even performed professionally all over the Chicagoland area as a magician in restaurants, birthday parties, charity events, bar/bat mizvahs, and more. He has also served his peers as a leader on Student Council and as President of his youth group, NFTY. He is avid OSRUI camper, looking forward to spending summer after summer at camp with his friends. |
![]() | Noah FeingoldNoah Feingold is truly a team player, participating on the Walter Payton math team, softball team, ultimate frisbee team, and baseball team. He has been on the board of the Anshe Emet Synagogue Youth Group, SHMUSY, from 7th grade through high school, serving as President, Religion Education Vice President, and Israel Affair Vice President. He has also served as the President of Payton’s Jewish Student Union. At the Lakeview Pantry West, Noah serves as an active and regular volunteer, coordinating the organization and management of handing out food. He was even nominated as homecoming king for his kindness and friendliness to everyone in school. |
![]() | Becca HelbraunBecca Helbraun is a true volunteer. She frequently participates in the federation’s Monthly Teen Volunteering (MTV) and has served on the Teen Volunteering Committee and the Voices philanthropy cohort. She is a dancer, lacrosse player, and photographer. She has worked as a Sunday school teacher’s aide for many years as well as a camp counselor. In the spring of 2011, she spent a semester studying abroad in Israel through the NFTY EIE program. She treasures her summers at OSRUI and is looking forward to working on staff there in the future. |
![]() | Jill MerrickJill Merrick loves to volunteer and is committed to the Jewish value of Tikkun Olam. She is the Va’ad Tikkun Olam Co-Chair at the Chicagoland Jewish High School, where she organizes many of the different tikkun olam initiatives. Throughout all of high school, she has been editor of the school yearbook. She is a member of the anti-genocide club, the Uganda Pen Pals Club, and the Interfaith Youth Core. Once a month, she goes to the Ark to serve food and participates in discussions with clients about books. She is also a volunteer at Keshet and Friendship Circle, two groups that work with children with special needs |
![]() | Riva KohnRiva Kohn is an actress, dancer, and singer, always on the lookout for an upcoming play or musical to perform in. In her free time, she participates in her school’s French club, takes Hebrew and drama classes, and serves as a tutor. She also is a volunteer for Books at Sunset, a bookshop that brings children stories and movies to life. She is dedicated to her youth movement, USY, and she attends every convention, Camp CHUSY, and Turkey dance. She has also served as the Freshman representative, Religious Education Vice President, and Co-President of her chapter. |
![]() | Lauren PliskinLauren Pliskin is constantly looking for ways to make the world a better place. Through her involvement in the Youth Philanthropic Initiative, the Uganda Pen Pal and Fundraising Club, and STAND, her school’s anti-genocide group, she has stepped up to make a difference. She also serves as the Co-Chair of the Shabbaton Committee and the Organizer of the Tikkun Olam Minyan, where she plans and leads sessions for her peers about social justice and leadership. She is also very involved in USY and has served both locally and regionally. She has spent countless summers at Camp Ramah in Wisconsin where she got involved in working with Tikvah, the special needs program at camp. |
![]() | Elana ShymanElana Shyman has been involved in many different activities in high school. She has served as the President of the Future Career and Community Leaders of America group. She is a starting pitcher on the Glenbrook North softball team. She is constantly helping others, volunteering as a teacher’s aid for kids at the JCC and working with students with special needs at the Friends & Family Club and Keshet. She has been an active member of NCSY, where she served on the local and regional board as the Vice President of Outreach and as President. |
![]() | Jeremy SolomonJeremy Solomon is a major athlete, playing on the volleyball team, ultimate frisbee team, and participating in a variety of intramural sports. When he’s not on the field, he is part of the National Honors Society and participating in BBYO as chapter President, Vice President of Membership and Programming. He attended the AIPAC High School Summit and looks forward to Israel Solidarity Day each year. He spends his summers at OSRUI and went on BBYO’s Passport to the Mediterranean and Israel Journey summer trip. |
![]() | Ariella TavorAriella Tavor has been involved in Stevenson High School in many different capacities, including the Class Board, cross country, and track. When she is not running, she is volunteering through federation's Monthly Teen Volunteering (MTV) program, spending her summers at Camp Tov, and volunteering at Keshet. She is also a peer tutor for math and served in the Student Leadership Academy. She is a hard worker and an excellent student. |
![]() | Jaren ZacherJaren Zacher is an active swimmer, participating in Stevenson High School’s swim team and water polo team. When he is not in the pool, he is a member of the Business Professionals of America and the Future Business Leaders of America. He has won many awards for his expertise in fundamental accounting. He is very active in NFTY and served as regional treasurer, Vice President of communications, and Freshman Representative. He also spent the last few summers at Kutz Camp for Reform Jewish Teens, NFTY’s Leadership Camp. |
