How Do You Handle Mistakes?
This year, all three major Jewish fall holidays, um, fall in September. This is the time of year to think about the past year, count up your mistakes (heck, even we made one or two… hundred) and make sure you try to do better in the coming year. But which Jewish holiday’s message tells most about how you handle it when you fall down on the job? Find out now!
1. Oh, heck! Was that assignment due today?! What do you tell the teacher?
a. "I just plain forgot." b. "I’m really, really sorry." c. "Can I do extra work to make it up?"
2. Gee, that last comment sure didn’t come out right! Now what do you say?
a. "I did not mean that the way it sounded." b. "I would never hurt your feelings on purpose." c. "I’m going to tell everyone who heard that what I meant."
3. You didn’t know your brother didn’t get any cake when you ate the last piece. You say:
a. "I was trying to spare you the calories, ha ha." b. "Sorry, I’ll ask next time." c. "Let me buy you a cupcake."
4. You tried "no-hands" on your bike… and scratched the car! Now you:
a. Promise to always steer from now on. b. Offer to give up your allowance to pay for it. c. Offer to do chores to pay for it.
5. What?! Grandma’s birthday was last week? You call her and say:
a. "Hey, Grandma! How was your birthday?" b. "I’m so sorry I missed it! I hope you’re not mad." c. "Can I take you out for ice cream this week instead?"
