Saving their moms with mahj

Mahj ladies

Alexis Miller, Jordyn Fishman, and Moriah Berry have three things in common: They were all JUFs Lewis Summer Interns in the summer of 2013, they are all daughters of mothers who are breast cancer survivors--and they, like their mothers, have a "thing" for mah-jongg.

Moriah (grad student, University of Illinois at Chicago) interned at CJE Senior Life, Jordyn (senior, U of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign) at JUF, and Alexis (senior, University of Pittsburgh) at Jewish Child and Family Services. They banded together to create a fundraiser--a mah-jongg tournament they titled "Stay Strong and Mahj On."

The event will take place on May 24 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Mission Hills Country Club in Northbrook. Guests can choose to participate in (or learn) mah-jongg or cards and lunch for $50, or just lunch for $30. All of the proceeds will benefit the Cancer Wellness Center in Northbrook.
