Congratulations to our November Volunteer Spotlight: Lisa Silverman! We couldn't do what we do without the help of our incredible volunteers like you!
Lisa has been volunteering with TOV since 2014 through the JUF Uptown Cafe, Good Deeds Day, and Nourish Our Neighborhoods. We wanted to get to know Lisa a little bit more, so she answered some of our questions below:
How did you first get involved with JUF/TOV? What makes it important for you to volunteer through TOV? Are there any fun facts about you that we might not know? Feel free to also share a story or experience that has inspired you.
I became involved in JUF when I moved to Chicago 10 years ago. I was looking for a community to feel at home. When I walked into my first Spring Event, a room filled with 800 Jewish women, all trying to make other lives better, I knew I found that community.
I have been involved in various TOV events over the years through JUF. As my involvement increased, I was invited to join Nourish Our Neighborhood. Giving back fills my soul. I am always inspired by the women of Chicago’s generosity of time, energy, ideas and financial support. I feel so lucky to be a part of this group.
We are so lucky to have Lisa as part of our TOV family! To learn more about JUF’s important work in the community, sign up to volunteer, or to make a donation in her honor, please visit our website.
