Congrats to our March Volunteer Spotlight: The Panozzo Silverman family! We couldn't do what we do without the help of our incredible volunteers like you.
The Panozzo Silverman's have been volunteering as a family with TOV since Sophie was a baby through Good Deeds Day, Nourish Our Neighborhoods, and our Concierge program. Lori Silverman served as our 2021 Good Deeds Day Committee Chair and is currently serving as a member of our 2023 Good Deeds Day Committee. We wanted to get to know the Lori, Vince and Sophie a little bit more, so they answered some of our questions below:
1. How did your family first get involved with TOV/JUF?
Our family first got involved with TOV through jBaby volunteering at The Ark. One day we went as a family to see what services the Ark provides and sort food for the food pantry. Over the years, we signed up to donate school supplies, provide food for the High Holiday Drive and Sophie’s favorite activity of buying Channukah gifts for Ark families.
2. What makes it important for your family to volunteer through TOV?
What we love about TOV is that it’s a Jewish organization that provides many different types of opportunities to volunteer for people of all ages and interests. Other volunteer opportunities we have done with TOV include Share Our Spare, The Anti-Cruelty Society, Bernie’s Book Bank and the multiple Nourish Our Neighbors for EZRA. It is important for our family to partake in Tikkun Olam because we are very lucky to have everything we need. It is our responsibility to support other families that are in need regardless of their backgrounds or religions.
3. Are there any fun facts about your family that we might not know? Feel free to also share a story or experience that has inspired you all.
Our family loves to cook together, travel, collect art and ride our bikes to fun interesting places.
We are so lucky to have the Panozzo Silverman's as part of our TOV family! To learn more about JUF's important work in the community, sign up to volunteer, or make a donation in their honor, please visit www.juf.org. To register for a Good Deeds Day project, head to www.juf.org/gdd.
