Are you thinking about how to expose your children to Jewish culture and identity? Your family is welcome to ‘try out’ our Sunday School by visiting their grade’s class for the day. Kol Hadash Humanistic Congregation holds weekly Sunday School classes for students in First Grade through Ninth Grade Confirmation. Each class has a well-defined curriculum, covering topics in Jewish history, literature and culture. We encourage children to value their Jewish identity and to think for themselves. Our whole school -- students, teachers, and families -- come together to celebrate Jewish holidays as well as for special programs on Jewish culture, community service activities and more.

Adult & Tot Make n’ Take Shabbat Candlesticks

Adults & Tots join Kol Hadash Humanistic Congregation with Rabbi Adam Chalom for Shabbat stories, songs, crafts and fun! Each child will decorate a pair of their own Shabbat candlesticks to take home making the holiday personally meaningful. There is time for adults to schmooze (chat) and connect with other parents with young children. And, we will have a Shabbat-themed snack.

This class is for grown-ups with their child up to 2 years old; at 9:30-10:30am, we have the same class for 3-6 year olds. Siblings are welcome at either class.

Connecting the Expecting

Expectant parents at similar stages of life will gather to socialize, share resources and discuss issues pertaining to being pregnant and preparing for parenthood. This group is open to expectant single moms and couples (LGBTQ couples welcome) who are expecting the birth or adoption of their first baby, in which at least one member of the couple is Jewish.

Each session will include a guest speaker and topics will include newborn basics, adjusting to new roles as parents, Jewish baby rituals and creating a Jewish home.

Neighborhood Night Out | Leap Night Yoga | Wheeling

Most nights are centered around caring for our littles so when we get an extra one this leap year, let's use it to focus on ourselves. Join jBaby ambassadors Lisa and Jane for an adult-only private yoga class led by certified instructor Karen Achtman.

Experienced yogis and newbies alike will enjoy a relaxing vinyasa/flow class to wind down the day. There will also be time to meet and mingle over healthy treats after class. 

Class will be held at the Wheeling Park District Health and Fitness Center, room #208. Bring a yoga or workout mat and a water bottle. If you need to borrow a yoga mat, please contact Lisa at lisagluskin@juf.org.
