Chicago Teacher's Project

Seeking open hearted and deep thinking individuals to join an innovative teaching fellowship. Fellows in this two-year program will assume full-time co-teaching positions in Chicago’s premier Jewish early childhood centers. Outside the classroom, Teaching Fellows will grow together as a cohort, studying cutting-edge practices in early childhood education and exploring Jewish life with a dynamic team of professors and mentors.

I had never considered working with children as a career; when I got the chance [to work in a progressive Jewish early childhood center], I was blown away by the intellectual challenge and creativity before me. With my new perspective as a teacher, I was amazed by the children’s sense of curiosity and I rediscovered my own.
Ideal candidates for the program are Jewish college graduates who are bright, passionate, seeking to make meaning in the world, and who possess the following qualities:
  • High emotional intelligence
  • High energy
  • Team player
  • Sense of humor
  • Respect for others
  • Demonstrated leadership ability
Compensation and benefits:
  • Salary of $25,000 plus benefits
  • Full-time employment beginning mid-August 2019
Upon acceptance:
  • Welcome Retreat: June 11-13, 2019 
  • Summer Intensive: August 5-9, 2019 
2019 Application Process:
  • Phone interviews week of March 18 
  • In-person interviews week of April 1 
  • Acceptance notifications week of May of 6
