Write On for Israel

Write On 3

Write On for Israel (WOFI) is the premier Israel education and advocacy program for highly motivated, committed and passionate Chicagoland Jewish teens. This two-year program combines:

  • Study of history, culture, politics and current events
  • Practice of writing, public speaking and grass-roots organizing skills
  • Experience of a unique trip to Israel.

After completing this rigorous two-year program, Write On for Israel Fellows are prepared to take on leadership roles in pro-Israel activities and organizations. Alumni have lobbied on Capitol Hill; organized pro-Israel rallies; garnered grass-roots support for a strong, democratic Israel; promoted Israel advocacy and education to Jewish student groups; addressed campus and community audiences; and engaged in other activities to share their passion for Israel. As part of our continuum of Israel education and advocacy programs, alumni also have become interns in our Hillel college Israel advocacy program and camp counselors at JCC Camp Chi, using the skills they learned in WOFI to help guide other Jewish teens in becoming effective Israel advocates.

Since its Chicago launch in 2004, WOFI has earned a reputation as the area's leading Israel education and advocacy opportunity for high school students. The program is sponsored by the Israel Education Center and JUF News. Seminars are led by an experienced team of journalists, educators, advocates and professionals representing a spectrum of the pro-Israel world. Guest lecturers and teachers come from media outlets, academia, the rabbinate and Israeli government agencies, among others.

"The IEC is on the ground with us as we combat anti-Israel sentiment and misconceptions. Along with the other Israel Interns, I work every day to empower my fellow students to be voices for Israel."
