PJ Library Shabbat Across Chicago

Join PJ Library as we journey throughout Chicagoland to celebrate Shabbat at a different synagogue each month. Each Shabbat experience will feature hands-on interactive activities especially designed for families with preschool aged children including crafts, music, dancing, theater, and of course PJ stories. PJ Library invites your family to celebrate Shabbat with us!

Shalom Shabbat is Anshe Emet's well-loved Shabbat morning service for children 4 and under and their parents, every Shabbat morning at 11am.  Tot Shabbat is for children 2 and under with at least one parent.  It is an opportunity for children to learn basic liturgy and sing Shabbat songs in an Orthodox environment.  Each child has the chance to hold a tot-sized Torah.  10:45 AM - 11:30 AM in the ASBI Social Hall every Shabbat.

Join Temple Sholom and Gan Shalom Early Childhood Center for an engaging and meaningful Kabbalat Shabbat service, designed for families with children under 5. Sing, dance, and celebrate as the Temple Sholom clergy and education team invite your youngest family members to experience the joy of Shabbat through familiar songs, prayers and rituals. Tot Shabbat at Temple Sholom is usually themed around our calendar of Jewish holidays, is totally free and open to all, and lasts 30 minutes. Tot Shabbat at BJBE is a joyful hour of prayer, music, stories and a snack for our youngest members and their parents and grandparents.  One of our clergy leads an interactive and age-appropriate service, followed by snack, an arts and crafts project and storytime. Services take place the 2nd Saturday morning of each month, September, 2015, through May, 2016, 9:30 - 10:30 am.

Every Saturday morning starting at 10:00 AM, we have a special Circle Time Shabbat service for our youngest friends. All are welcome. Singing, dancing, clapping, and toys! Following services is Torah for Tots (Babysitting) by licensed professionals, so adults can join the main service. Kiddush lunch to follow.On the first Friday night of every month, come experience the magic of Shabbat B'Yachad (Together). We begin by having dinner as a big happy family (there are lots of toys for the kids) at 6:00 PM, followed by three options for services. In addition to our main service is a tot service with songs and a lively story where we can sit in chairs or on comfy pillows. We also have a service for our elementary school age families with songs, learning, and some delicious treats. All followed by a communal oneg with brownies, fruit, and more.
