Max loves Jewish community--and a great cup of coffee. Max runs the Kehillah Jewish Education Fund, which bolsters Torah-based education, resource rooms, Hebrew-language learning programs, and student services at 11 local day schools, with the goal of bringing the community together and fostering Jewish continuity.
He was surprised to discover that his thriving West Rogers Park neighborhood didn't have a kosher café. So Max decided to bring Chicago's rich coffee culture to his hood--while catering to the religious customs and dietary needs of the community, and that is why Bond Coffee Collective was born.
When he's not at work or enjoying the café, the business-minded Max leads the finance committee for his shul, Ohel Shalom Torah Center. He also gives daily tzedakah gifts to "keep my mind in the giving spirit." He supports Morasha, which seeks to spread Sephardic education and heritage to Sephardic Chicago youth, and Sharsheret, a Jewish breast cancer support group.
