Our Work Overseas

JUF in Israel
A dynamic and vibrant bridge connecting Chicago’s Jewish community with the people of Israel
JUF’s Israel office is dedicated to strategic planning and oversight of JUF operations in Israel. The office represents JUF in Israel, including liaison with dozens of grantees and agencies, working in an ecosystem of the Jewish Federations world and other philanthropy and more.

JUF Overseas
JUF responds swiftly to those in need and is fiercely committed to supporting Jews in 70 countries across the globe—rescuing people facing persecution and funding security assistance for Jewish buildings overseas. JUF provides opportunities for Chicagoans to travel to Jewish communities around the world to see JUF’s impact and dollars at work.
When war broke out in Ukraine in 2022, JUF swiftly leveraged our existing resources on the ground to get people out of harm’s way—and protect those who were too fragile to flee. We were already there because, for 80+ years, JUF and our partners have been providing life-saving services to Ukraine’s Jewish community—which includes many thousands of Holocaust survivors and families in need.
