Zoey Alzate
Senior, New Trier High School
Zoey is a senior at New Trier High School. She is a member of the Jewish Affinity Group and also finds her voice as Entertainment & Opinions Editor of the New Trier News school paper, as a team lead for the Student Ambassadors Board that guides alumni and transfer student tours, and as a Varsity thrower on the Girls Track & Field Team. Outside of school, Zoey developed her passion for government and advocating for the Jewish community and Israel through the American Jewish Committee (AJC) Teen Leaders for Tomorrow (LFT) program where she participated in a 300+ person summit in Washington DC and lobbied our state and local representatives at the Capitol. That experience as Teen Midwest Representative for AJC’s LFT and JUF Teens’s Election Program led to her participation as a Cook County Election Judge in November 2024 with a follow up article in the Chicago Tribune. Zoey is also a freelance junior contributor for the Stroll Glencoe, a local magazine. As a Jewish Latina, Zoey perfected her Spanish earning the State Seal of Biliteracy and gives back through hands-on food and toy distribution to needy families in her father’s native Colombia.
