Home-Delivered Meals
Through funding from AgeOptions through by Title III-C of the Older Americans Act and other generous funders, CJE provides home-delivered kosher meals for older adults who are unable to shop and/or prepare food. CJE offers meals for diabetic, low sodium, renal and mechanical soft diets. Meals are delivered by volunteers between the hours of 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday through Friday. Eligibility regulations, prices and menu options differ according to the funding source and the client's location. CJE's meal delivery services area is limited to Chicago’s north side, Evanston, Niles, Northfield and New Trier Townships.

CJE Kosher Catering
A delicious choice for holiday meals, intimate dinners and large gatherings. Experienced, highly-skilled staff works with the client to create the perfect menu. Full dinners, side dishes, appetizers, trays, salads and more are available. Catering menu from CJE’s Lieberman Center in Skokie is cRc approved and catering menu from Weinberg Community in Deerfield is under supervision of Rabbi Mel Lifsics.

CJE Consumer Assistance
Provides free information, resources and advocacy on issues that impact older adults, including consumer benefits, community service, public assistance, Social Security, and housing referrals. State-certified Senior Health Insurance Program (SHIP) counselors help older adults understand various types of health insurance and medical bill payments. Russian-speaking staff on site.

CJE Community Engagement
Offers a variety of educational, wellness, social and life-enrichment programming for older adults at the Bernard Horwich Building and throughout the community. Programs and their locations change regularly and may include creative arts workshops, screenings to identify/prevent bone or hearing loss, and educational programs on how to use an iPad, organize financial records, care for an aging parent or improve memory skills.

Building has 150 one-bedroom apartments. Head of household must be 62 years or older and entire household must meet HUD Section 8 income requirements. Community wing with scheduled activities and social services. Service coordinator on site. Transportation through CJE’s Shalom Bus Services is available for residents.
