A first generation American, Alan exemplifies the true meaning of
tikkun olam
.
After learning that Israel was in dire need of agricultural help due to the shortage of farmers caused by October 7th, he flew to Israel in February to volunteer to pick fruits and vegetables on
kibbutzim
.
Back in Chicago, Alan continues to advocate for Israel, serving on the board of the AJC's ACCESS Chicago-the American Jewish Committee's young professionals division. As part of his role, he attends high level meetings and briefings with diplomats, elected officials, and intergroup leaders to advocate on behalf of the Jewish community and Israel.
He also volunteers with Keshet and the Williams Syndrome Association, two causes that he holds close to his heart. (Williams Syndrome is a rare genetic condition that affects a person's growth and development.)
When he's not volunteering, you might find Alan playing for the softball team he runs-the Bagels-hanging out at the Lakeview Chabad, or jamming on his sax.
