Lauren Nesher

One of Lauren's proudest moments includes leading a walkout of more than 400 students at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in protest of a student government resolution that denied the link between anti-Zionism and antisemitism. 

"It was a powerful show of unity, making it clear that Jewish students will not be sidelined in conversations about our identity and safety," Lauren reflected.

Her commitment to the Jewish community stems from an early age. From her bat mitzvah through adulthood, Lauren has consistently taken initiative to lead, advocate, and uplift Jewish causes. She currently serves as a member of YLD's Board of Directors, YLD's Israel Committee, and the Young Professional Board of the Illinois Holocaust Museum. 

Professionally, she blends compassion with innovation as a physician assistant specializing in dermatology and medical aesthetics. Whether it's in healthcare, activism, or community service, Lauren's forward-thinking approach makes her a natural Jewish leader.

HOW DO YOU GIVE BACK:
I’ve raised over tens of thousands of dollars over 10 years for the Holocaust Museum in Washington, D.C., through a necklace project I started for my bat mitzvah. The necklaces memorialized Jewish children who perished in the Holocaust.

SOMETHING MOST PEOPLE DON’T KNOW ABOUT ME:
I enjoy art—painting and creating mosaics. A few of my pieces can be found around the North Shore and displayed in the homes of friends and family.
