With a passion for creating meaningful Jewish experiences, Avraham is shaping both the minds and hearts of students.
In his role as a Middle School Science and Jewish Studies Teacher at Bernard Zell Anshe Emet Day School, Avraham integrates Jewish values and science. He loves creating hands-on projects that encourage students to experience science and Torah together.
"My worldview is built on three core values: Science, Torah, and
chesed
," Avraham explained. "I encourage my students to embrace curiosity and ask big questions. In science, they explore the nature of matter and life. In Jewish studies, we consider what it means to be Jewish and how diverse perspectives shape our understanding."
Outside of his role at Bernard Zell, Avraham is a dedicated community leader and volunteer, currently serving as the Co-Chair of Education on the Board of Skokie Valley Synagogue. Through his roles in both education and community leadership, Avraham pushes the Jewish community around him to always question, be curious, and engage in the world around them.

HOW DO YOU GIVE BACK:
Ten years ago, I arrived in America with very little, driven by a deep desire to become Jewish. Thanks to the warmth and generosity of the Jewish community, I was able to achieve that goal and build a loving family. The kindness I experienced inspired me to give back. I started by sharing what I had learned with others exploring conversion, and today, I teach students whom I consider like my own children.
SOMETHING MOST PEOPLE DON’T KNOW ABOUT ME:
My first encounter with Judaism was the Rugrats Chanukah special, which I still watch every Chanukah with my family to this day.
WHAT IS YOUR PROUDEST ACCOMPLISHMENT IN THE LAST 10 YEARS:
My daughter and my students. Beyond teaching my love for science and Torah, the most important thing for me is to create human connections and pass on a part of who I am to the next generation.
A JEW WHO INSPIRES YOU:
Carl Sagan inspires me because he showed how science and wonder go hand in hand.
YOUR BEST PIECE OF ADVICE:
Hold on to your Jewish values.
