During the pandemic, Daniel transformed isolation into purpose, studying to become a rabbi and reimagining spiritual leadership outside of the traditional Jewish structures.

Last year, while working at his company, Capital Rx, he created the company's first Jewish affinity group, offering Jewish employees a space to engage Jewishly with one another.

Whether offering free spiritual counseling, inviting others to say blessings over blooming trees at the Chicago Botanic Garden, or opening his family's Shabbat table to others, Daniel-a husband and father of a baby girl-helps others connect to Judaism in meaningful ways.

When he's not wearing his rabbinical or project management hat, you'll likely find Daniel in a chef's hat-literally. A lover of all things culinary, he owns Bearded Ear Bread Co., a microbakery specializing in sourdough and European ryes made from 100% fresh milled flour. He enjoys finding ways to replicate different dishes and making what he calls "kosher treif," even founding "Fleischfest," a kosher meat fest for Jewish young adults.

AGE:
32

PRIMARY GIG:
Account Manager at CapitalRx, Independent Rabbi

ON THE SIDE:
Owner/baker of Bearded Ear Bread Co., a cottage bakery specializing in artisan bread made from 100% fresh milled flour.

CELEBRITY DOPPELGANGER:
Everyone has a different suggestion, but the most named is Fred Savage. I choose to believe the one person who said Russel Crowe.

A JEW WHO INSPIRES YOU:
Rabbi Aryeh Levin. Reb Aryeh, known as the "Tzaddik of Jerusalem," was known as the living embodiment of "ahavas Yisrael"—love of a fellow Jew… Most famously, he was the rabbi to the Jewish prisoners during the British Mandate, helping get a number of them off of death row.

IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE YOU’D LIKE THE COMMUNITY TO KNOW ABOUT YOU:
I love learning in general, but especially Jewish learning. My daily study includes Daf Yomi, Rambam's Mishneh Torah, Shulchan Aruch HaRav, and another rotating book.
