Sensory Celebrations

Experience the Jewish holidays and seasonal celebrations though tactile and sensory play. Engage in crafts and listen to stories, and enjoy socializing and open play. Snack is included. This class is best for children ages 12 months+ and their favorite adult. This class takes place immediately before our Family School program on Sundays. Families are welcome to stay for our opening tefilah/music of Family School from 10:00-10:30.

Sunday School Tryout and Open House at Kol Hadash Humanistic Congregation

We welcome non-members to join us - there is no expectation of a commitment by coming to this program.

Are you thinking about how to expose your children to Jewish culture and identity? Your family is welcome to ‘try out’ our Sunday School by visiting their grade’s class for the day. Kol Hadash Humanistic Congregation holds weekly Sunday School classes for students in First Grade through Ninth Grade Confirmation. Each class has a well-defined curriculum, covering topics in Jewish history, literature and culture. We encourage children to value their Jewish identity and to think for themselves. Our whole school -- students, teachers, and families -- come together to celebrate Jewish holidays as well as for special programs on Jewish culture, community service activities and more.

So we thought we'd gather for an ultimate fall play date under the trees at Jonquil Park. Sukkot Family Service & Pizza Dinner at Kol Hadash Humanistic Congregation Sunday School

Sunday, October 1, 2023 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM <Add to Calendar>

Celebrate fall by joining us for our free, all-ages event in our Sukkah to celebrate the harvest festival of Sukkot. Rabbi Adam Chalom will lead a brief service - you’ll have a chance to hold the lulav branches and etrog fruit - and sing along with the guitar.

We will have hands-on craft activities for children, who can hang their creations in our Sukkah or take them home.

Please bring chairs or blankets to sit in and around our sukkah (and there is a rain plan on-site!).

Our celebration then moves indoors for a pizza dinner, including salad, fruit and dessert (gluten-free options available). The dinner is $5 per-person (children 5 and under are free).

Everyone is welcome at this free program!

שרשים Shorashim means Roots in Hebrew. We see our youngest learners as the Shorashim of our Etz Chaim (Roots of our Tree of Life). Rabbi Wainer will lead this class in music, stories, art, and free play. This class will meet monthly from October through May, 9:45-10:45 am, for tots ages 0 through PreK 3’s and their adults. Connecting the Expecting

Expectant parents at similar stages of life will gather to socialize, share resources and discuss issues pertaining to being pregnant and preparing for parenthood. This group is open to expectant single moms and couples (LGBTQ couples welcome) who are expecting the birth or adoption of their first baby, in which at least one member of the couple is Jewish.

Each session will include a guest speaker and topics will include newborn basics, adjusting to new roles as parents, Jewish baby rituals and creating a Jewish home.

Sibshops offer brothers and sisters of children with a variety of special needs a place to meet other siblings in a relaxed, supportive, and recreational setting. They discuss their common joys and concerns, learn to handle sibling-specific “sticky situations” and have fun! For kids ages 6-12 years old.

Are you thinking about how to expose your children to Jewish culture and identity? Your family is welcome to ‘try out’ our Sunday School by visiting their grade’s class for the day. Kol Hadash Humanistic Congregation holds weekly Sunday School classes for students in First Grade through Ninth Grade Confirmation. Each class has a well-defined curriculum, covering topics in Jewish history, literature and culture. We encourage children to value their Jewish identity and to think for themselves. Our whole school -- students, teachers, and families -- come together to celebrate Jewish holidays as well as for special programs on Jewish culture, community service activities and more.

Kol Hadash Humanistic Congregation provides a comfortable home for individuals and families who identify as Culturally Jewish, Just Jewish, Jew-ish, Jewish and . . . , Half-Jewish, Interfaith, Jews by Choice, Multicultural, Not Religious, Secular, Humanistic, Atheist, and Agnostic. No prior knowledge or Jewish literacy is needed; come as you are!
