Old-Young Discussion at Rosh Hashana Family Services at Kol Hadash Humanistic Congregation

Monday, September 10, 2018 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM <Add to Calendar>

Celebrate and reflect on the Jewish New Year in a family-friendly atmosphere at Kol Hadash Humanistic Congregation. Rabbi Adam Chalom discusses ‘Old-Young’ at our Rosh Hashana Family Services. What can adults learn from children? And what should adults try to teach? The next generation learns from what we do even more than what we say, so self-improvement also means showing our children how to do better. Family services are intended for children ages 4-12, younger siblings are welcome to join. These services are free, do not require advance reservations and non-members are welcome with no commitment. The Garry Gardner Memorial Bowls for Hunger

Sunday, November 4, 2018 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM <Add to Calendar>

We all know and witness in our own communities, on television, and in the news the number of people in our communities who struggle to find food every day. The Garry Gardner Memorial Bowls for Hunger is one way to battle hunger..
The Garry Gardner Memorial Bowls for Hunger event to be held on November 4th, 2018 at Congregation Etz Chaim of DuPage County was named for congregant and area pediatrician Dr. Garry Gardner. Beloved for his attentive care to children with special needs, Dr. Gardner was active in social action work and was a long-time supporter of the Walk-in-Ministry of Lombard/Villa Park.
This event was the inspiration of Cynde Sawyer, a member of Congregation Etz Chaim and an accomplished potter. Cynde was familiar with the Empty Bowls organization, which raises funds to help feed the hungry. Cynde donates the pottery she crafts and encourages the donation of pottery from other professional and amateur potters she works with through the Fine Line Creative
