Tzedakah Box Family Ed & Community Service Project at Kol Hadash Humanistic Congregation

Sunday, November 11, 2018 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM <Add to Calendar>

Rabbi Adam Chalom of Kol Hadash Humanistic Congregation will lead a free, family education session about tzedakah. Tzedakah in Hebrew originally means "righteousness," but it has also come to mean "charity." How do we decide where to be generous and what to prioritize? Families will have an opportunity to decorate their own tzedakah boxes to take home. Then we will participate in a hands-on community service project. We will assemble lunches and make cards for distribution at a local homeless shelter through PADS Lake County.

Children not in Sunday School can ‘try it out’ by coming at 9:30 a.m. to join their grade’s class for the day (with advance notice, please).

Everyone is welcome at our events so you can meet us for yourself — no charge and no commitment. Kol Hadash Humanistic Congregation celebrates Jewish identity and culture by replacing worship with a belief in human responsibility and equality.

(Recurring Weekly on Sunday, between 9/9/2018 - 5/5/2019)

Everyone is welcome at our events so you can meet us for yourself — no charge and no commitment. Kol Hadash Humanistic Congregation celebrates Jewish identity and culture by replacing worship with a belief in human responsibility and equality — for us, it’s about people, not prayer.

Sunday School ‘Try Out’ at Kol Hadash Humanistic Congregation

Sunday, February 24, 2019 9:30 AM - 11:30 AM <Add to Calendar>

(Recurring Weekly on Sunday, between 9/9/2018 - 5/5/2019)

Are you thinking about how to expose your children to Jewish culture and identity? Your family is welcome to ‘try out’ our Sunday School by visiting their grade’s class for the day. Kol Hadash Humanistic Congregation holds weekly Sunday School classes for students through confirmation. Each class has a well-defined curriculum, covering topics in Jewish history, literature and culture. We encourage children to value their Jewish identity and to think for themselves. Our whole school -- students, teachers, and families -- come together to celebrate Jewish holidays as well as for special programs on Jewish culture, community service activities and more.

Everyone is welcome at our events so you can meet us for yourself — no charge and no commitment. Kol Hadash Humanistic Congregation celebrates Jewish identity and culture by replacing worship with a belief in human responsibility and equality — for us, it’s about people, not prayer.
