‘Oh, hello’ from a ‘Big Mouth’

The hilarious Nick Kroll will perform his stand-up comedy for the Annual Young Leadership Division’s Big Event Fundraiser this year. His creativity expresses itself in nearly every medium: stand-up and Broadway stages; animated, live-action, and sketch shows; comedic and dramatic movies; from podcasts to books and more.
Kroll’s performance will be on Saturday, Dec.16 at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance.
“This event has consistently been one of the largest gatherings of young Jews across the country, and we’re very happy to continue this tradition,” said Danny Hochberg, the 2023 YLD Campaign Chair. “It’s a great example of how we show support for our community, and share a laugh, too especially with such a proudly Jewish headliner.”
Kroll is one of today’s most sought-after creators, writers, producers, and actors. He writes and stars on Netflix’s Emmy-nominated animated series, Big Mouth, which he co-created; the show was just renewed for a seventh season. The show’s spinoff, Human Resources, premiered this spring.
“The entire YLD team was super-excited when we found out Nick was going to be doing stand-up at the Big Event this year,” said Henry Sholk, the 2023-24 YLD Board President. “I have extremely fond memories of John Mulaney’s Big Event show in 2019, and I think Nick will bring a similar, hilarious energy. Whether you are a fan of The League, Big Mouth, or just stand-up comedy in general, it will be a memorable evening.”
Kroll’s Big Mouth co-star, Mulaney, also appears with him onstage in Oh, Hello on Broadway, now available on Netflix. The podcast spinoff donated all its proceeds to COVID-19 relief.
Kroll’s most recent project, History of the World Part II– which he wrote, starred in, and executive produced- is now streaming on Hulu. A continuation of the 1981 classic, History of the World, Part I, it was given Mel Brooks’ personal blessing.
On TV, Kroll spent seven seasons starring in The League for FX, created the sketch show Kroll Show for Comedy Central, and released several stand-up specials, including the recent Little Big Boy for Netflix. His worldwide stand-up appearances routinely sell out, including his 2021 show at Carnegie Hall.
Kroll’s movie appearances run from comedy– Date Night, Get Him to the Greek, Dinner for Schmucks, I Love You, Man –to dramas like Loving, Don’t Worry Darling, Operation Finale, and Olympic Dreams, the first film ever shot inside the Olympic Village. His voice can be heard in animated films like the Addams Family, Sing, and The Secret Life of Pets series.
Kroll grew up Jewish, going to the Solomon Schechter School of Westchester. In 2005, he co-wrote Bar Mitzvah Disco, a collection of stories and photos–including some from celebrities–about bar and bat mitzvah celebrations in the 1970s and ’80s.
