Keshet, a non-profit organization founded in 1982, provides state-of-the-art, year-round educational, recreational, and vocational programs for children and young adults with developmental and varying learning challenges. The Klezmer Music Foundation was founded in 1994 to further the educational and outreach activities of the Maxwell Street Klezmer Band. Their charitable work includes: performances for senior citizen residences, school concerts, the Junior Klezmer Orchestra, the Salaam-Shalom Music Project, the Yiddish Arts Ensemble, klezmer workshops and master classes, and more.
