Adult Day Services (ADS) offer a supervised, structured program for people with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of cognitive impairment, as well as those who are too frail to be left alone during the day. A group setting maximizes the potential of each participant by promoting autonomy, creativity and self-esteem. Professional staff plans creative activities to stimulate the mind and body. Traditional Day Services enable older adults who are too frail, isolated or lonely to maintain their independence in a dignified manner, while providing peace of mind for their caregivers. The Asher program is a structured, therapeutic program that serves people with early-to mid-stage Alzheimer’s.

A program that coordinates and links care across community-based health and social services organizations and provides advocacy and support. The goal of the Care Management Program is to promote the safely and well-being of older adults in the community so they can remain independent for as long as possible. Six-story apartment building with 125 one- and two-bedroom units, offers a retirement lifestyle that allows older people to maintain a greater level of health, dignity and independence. Offering comfort, style and companionship, Gidwitz provides residents with housekeeping and basic personal care, restaurant-style Kosher meals, and a wide range of educational, social, cultural and holiday programs. Staff is on premises 24 hours a day, including a registered nurse during daytime hours. Amenities include a cafe, mini-mart, beauty/barber shop, library, fitness and wellness centers, synagogue and meeting rooms, and beautifully landscaped grounds for walking. Trips to stores, special events and sites of special interest are part of the regular schedule of activities. Respite Care for family caregivers is offered at reasonable daily rates.

Through funding from AgeOptions through by Title III-C of the Older Americans Act and other generous funders, CJE provides home-delivered kosher meals for older adults who are unable to shop and/or prepare food. CJE offers meals for diabetic, low sodium, renal and mechanical soft diets. Meals are delivered by volunteers between the hours of 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday through Friday. Eligibility regulations, prices and menu options differ according to the funding source and the client's location. CJE's meal delivery services area is limited to Chicago's north side, Evanston, Niles, Northfield and New Trier Townships.

The Synagogue Security Council of North America

The Synagogue Security Council of North America is a 501c3 non-profit organization singularly focused on developing effective volunteer first responders within our own communities. SSCNA's mission is to make our synagogues and Jewish institutions safer by providing lifesaving skills and technology to committed community members, helping to cultivate cost-free, capable and effective first responders within every minyan. We do this by providing standardized technology systems, real-time intelligence, training and certification programs to community volunteers, giving them the necessary tools and skills to help prevent or respond to a targeted attack.
