 | Jerry and Marlene Rothenberg, of Gary, Ind., celebrated their 50th anniversary on Dec. 31. They met when Jerry was 17 and Marlene was 13 and were married 4 years later in 1961 in Detroit, Mich., where they both were born and raised. By 1965 they moved to Gary and soon found themselves the proud parents of 4: Jeff (Joani) Rothenberg of Indianapolis, Ind., Terri (Bob) Chmara, of Southfield, Mich., Lisa (Michael) Giglio, of Lansing, Ill., and the late Julie. They worked many years together at West Side Nursing Home in Gary, where Jerry was the Administrator and Marlene one of his secretaries.
They are grandparents to Leela, Ben, Jake, Alex, Moe, Maya, Elaine, Jamie, and Tal. They were fortunate to renew their vows and celebrate their 50th at Temple Israel in Gary, Ind., over Thanksgiving weekend with 200 of their closest friends and family. We thank Zadie and Bubbie for being incredible role models as parents, grandparents, friends, volunteers, and Jews. |
