Tess sevelowMazel tov to Tess Sevelow-Lee and Asaf Dekel on their engagement. Tess is the daughter of Jill Sevelow and Tony Lee, and the granddaughter of Gussie Sevelow. Tess made aliyah in 2001, and is the Community Director for The Israel Experience. Asaf is the son of Osnat and Gilad Dekel. He served in the IDF, including three years as an officer. He is completing a double major in Economics and Business Management from Bar Ilan U. An October wedding is planned in Israel.

Mazel tov to Alyssa Zeller, daughter of David and Marilyn Zeller of Skokie, on her engagement to Avi Lifschitz, son of Rabbi Efrem and Aliza Lifschitz of Toronto.

Hochwert TTT

Stuart and Barbara Hochwert of Highland Park announce the engagement of their daughter Michelle Hochwert to Joshua Newman, son of Dr. Edward and Rhonda Newman of Buffalo Grove. Josh is a fourth year medical student at the Chicago Medical School. He plans to pursue a career in internal medicine after graduation. Michelle is a Program Coordinator at Rush University Medical Center. A June 2014 wedding in Chicago is planned, to be officiated by Rabbi Howard Lifshitz, Rabbi Jeff Pivo and Cantor Roger Weisberg of Congregation Beth Judea in Long Grove.

Fireman X

Dr. Jeffrey and Cathy Fireman of Deerfield announce the engagement of their daughter Lexi Fireman, 27, to Brad Schneider, 27, son of Gregg and Rita Schneider of Glenview. Proud grandparents are Simone Goodman of Niles and James and Phyllis Schneider of Northbrook. Brad is an Investment Associate at Northern Trust Bank and is currently enrolled at the U. of Chicago Booth School of Business. Lexi is a special-education teacher at Ivy Hall Elementary School in Buffalo Grove.  A February wedding is planned, to be officiated by Rabbi Carl Wolkin of Northbrook.   

Lonnie Pervos

Dr. Richard and Gayle Pervos of Buffalo Grove announce the engagement of their daughter Lonnie Pervos, 25, to Josh Finkle, 25, son of Scott and Davida Finkle of Buffalo Grove.  Proud grandmas are Ann Pervos of Skokie, Barbara Cohen of Buffalo Grove, and Faith Finkle of Buffalo Grove. Josh will be beginning a residency in radiology at the University of Chicago, and Lonnie will be pursuing pediatrics after her 4th year at the Chicago Medical School.

A May wedding in Chicago is planned and will be officiated by Rabbi Howard Lifshitz, Rabbi Jeff Pivo, and Cantor Roger Weisberg of Congregation Beth Judea in Long Grove.

Weisberg Gaines

Susan and Melvyn Weisberg announce the engagement of their daughter Sarah Weisberg to Matthew Gaines, son of and Nina and Mark Gaines. Matthew is a Senior Consultant at Altair Advisers LLC. Sarah is a first-grade teacher at Henry Winkelman Elementary school in Glenview. A December wedding is planned, to be officiated by Rabbi Vernon Kurtz of Highland Park.

Steinberg x

Yvonne and Alan Cutler of Long Grove announce the engagement of their daughter, Britt Steinberg, to Jeffrey Vranek, son of Linda and William Vranek of Ivanhoe. The couple reside and work in Chicago; Britt is an attorney and Jeff is a private-equity associate. They plan to wed next winter.


Dykeman X

Stephanie Rachel Dykeman and Brendon Scott Sklar were married on October 21, 2012 at the Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn in Sonoma, CA. Stephanie is the daughter of Annie and Richard Dykeman of Mequon, WI. Brendon is the son of Teri and Dennis Sklar of Northbrook, and grandson of Phyllis and Jack Rosen of Highland Park. Stephanie and Brendon honeymooned in South Africa. Rabbi Gil-Ezer Lerer of Temple Menorah in Milwaukee performed the ceremony.

Stephanie, 33, is the Director of Domestic Affairs for the JCRC at the JUF/Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago.  She graduated from the U. of WI-Madison in 2001 and from the U. of California-Berkeley School of Law in 2004. Brendon, 35, is the Financial Center Manager at Fifth Third Bank in Deerfield. He graduated from the U. of AZ in 2000.

Gottlieb X

Alan and Lorin Gottlieb, of Cleveland, announce the engagement of their daughter Robyn Gottlieb, 30, to Dan Brenner, 29, son of Michael and Gail Brenner, of Highland Park.

The groom is an attorney focusing his practice in Construction law and the bride is the Director of the Trades, Industries & Professions (TIP) Division of the Jewish United Fund. The couple plans to get married in the fall in Cleveland. Grandparents of the bride are Charles and Gwen Lewis and Saul and Bernice Gottlieb, of Cleveland. Grandparents of the groom are Saul z'l and Marcy Rosenfeld, of Denver, and Leonard Alyce Brenner z'l of Aventura, Fla.


Meltzer X

Bonnie and Rick Meltzer, of Northbrook, announce the engagement of their daughter, Cheryl Alyse Meltzer, 28, to David Mitchell Ginsburg, 29, son of Aleece and Mark Ginsburg of Buffalo Grove. The bride's grandparents are Sylvia and Marvin Rosett and Nettie Meltzer.  The groom's grandparents are Ina Lurie and Joan and Gene Ginsburg. Cheryl graduated from Indiana University in 2007 in Elementary Education. She is currently employed as a Special Education teacher for CPS. David graduated from Illinois State University in the field of Parks and Recreation. He is currently employed as an executive assistant manager for Walgreen's. A June 2013 wedding is planned. Rabbi Carl Wolkin and Cantor Steven Stoehr, of Congregation Beth Shalom in Northbrook, will officiate.
