This September, the United Nations General Assembly may vote on endorsing a Palestinian unilateral declaration of independence (UDI). While the ultimate goal of the peace process, as underscored by Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu in his recent address to the US Congress, is "two states for two peoples: a Palestinian state alongside the Jewish state," there is broad recognition that it is only through bilateral negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians that peace with secure and recognized borders can be achieved.
In an effort to raise our collective voice against a unilaterally declared Palestinian state, JUF is co-sponsoring an online petition.
We invite you to sign the petition and circulate it to your social and organizational networks via e-mail, Facebook, and Twitter. When posting to Twitter, please use the hashtag #Sign4Peace.
The petition to reject UDI is an initiative of the Israel Action Network, a joint program of The Jewish Federations of North America and the Jewish Council for Public Affairs to combat the assault on Israel's legitimacy. The Israel Action Network is chaired by David Sherman, former chairman of the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago.
