Chicago celebrates Israel's 60th anniversary of independence

Around 8,000 members of Chicago's Jewish community and friends celebrated Israel@60 May 8.

Chicago's Jewish community and friends joined with the people of Israel in celebrating the 60th anniversary of independence of the State of Israel, starting with the Walk with Israel and Israel Solidarity Day May 4, continuing with a major Gala the evening of May 8.

“What do we say to Israel, with admiration, with great love, with gratitude? Thank you, thank you just for being Israel,” Wiesel said.
